Your new home has a pre-installed home security system
Many times after you buy a home, you’ll find that the old owners used a home security system. All the components function well, are installed in the best areas, and are ready to go. In this case, all you may have to do is to call and start a new contract. A Vivint professional will still come out to make sure there are no integration problems, and they could offer options on an upgrade or two. It's a quick appointment, and you can have your alarm monitoring set up without paying for any new components -- unless you get some new devices.
The previous owners can transfer an existing Vivint contract to you for a small transfer cost to make the process easier. If the outgoing residents are moving to an apartment complex or retirement community, you keeping the security contract may be a part of the sale.
You need to move and take your home security components with you
You may want to take your old smart devices with you to a new house when you move. It should be fairly easy to accomplish, as many smart devices are portable. You can remove each alarm or camera by yourself or call a Vivint installer to come and take care of everything. Then our installers will set up the same features -- and any new items you need -- in your new home. The home security contract will stay the same.
